"MOVING ON UP"

Oh yes, Brighton here we come!!! Andy Williams' AFC Bournemouth website

Supporting The Cherries

The Cherries are under the spotlight in this independent site created by and for the fans.

Check out my new section in "custom page" about the old crooners of the team, Neil Young and Testimonial man Steve Fletcher
(THIS SECTION IS WORK IN PROGRESS!).

CAMPAIGN OF REVENGE NEXT SEASON.
Next year we face Grimsby Town, the team who beat us in the auto windscreens final in 1998.

THE CHERRIES, WITH A RELATIVELY UNDER-STRENGTH SQUAD AND LIMITED FIREPOWER, SHOW POTENTIAL FOR NEXT SEASON.

Bournemouth saved the best till last in their roller-coaster Division Three Season. The fans were a credit to the club with no aggro and a friendly atmosphere. Both ends of the ground which was strange as Lincoln were using a yellow strip and their fans didn't adopt the same radical colour-change as Southampton did for their recent cup-final. Everyone was behind the team but I was a little saddened by the fact that no-one around me knew many songs apart from "beep beep beep beep beep beep, beep beep beep BOURNEMOUTH!!!!"
The game was slow to start withh both the relatively young sides visually taken-aback by the large turnout. Good old Superfletch opened the scoring for the Cherries with an excellent finish on the volley. Lincoln levelled it up and it looked asif half-time would see a 1-1 scoreline, but I was shocked to see Carl Fletcher score a header to sent the South End into ecstasy and make those half-time beers seem ever more attractive!!! The second half was a goalfest, which is bizzare considering all of the attacking players we have injured(see injury list above) with the strikes coming from Purches, O'Connor and another one from captain Carl Fletcher. Purches flung a foot out with great accuracy to send the ball in. Carl Fletcher scored another header from distance to put the game beyond doubt but for me, the best goal was O'Connor's. There seemed to be nothing on for him with the ball on the left wing but suddenly he trickily cut inside and curled a wonderful shot past the hapless keeper who cried at the final whistle! I would have put my money on Wade Elliott grabbing one of the more special goals but it was O'Connor who took the initiative. Moss had a slightly dodgy game but he's the reason that we were there with his great performances all season so he gets away with it!!!
watch out seaweed, here come the CHERRIES!!!
